Carsington WaterThe reservoir officially opened in 1992, is one of the top tourist venues in the UK and attracts millions of visitors each year. It supplies water to many households and is owned by Severn Trent, it holds almost 8 billion gallons of water mainly from the River Derwent.Carsington Water has an excellent water sports centre offering sailing, canoeing and windsurfing, both equipment and instructers are available to hire. You can even fly fish here for Brown and Rainbow Trout, these are often on the menu here at the Knockerdown Inn. The whole area is beautifully landscaped, it is wheelchair friendly (mobility scooters can be hired), dogs are allowed providing they are kept under control, you can hire bycycles, you can even ride your horse around the bridlepaths of the reservoir. And all this is a five minute walk from the Knockerdown Inn.
