The market town of Ashbourne is only a few miles away too. A historic market town, with market days on a Thursday and Saturday. The town has many old buildings of interest and a very beautiful church with a spire rising to 212ft.
A little further and north east of the Knockerdown, you will find Chatsworth House, it really is one of the jewels of Derbyshire. The magnificent home of the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire and is generally regarded as the Palace of the Peak. It is open to visitors most of the year (closed just before Christmas and re-opens at Easter). It does usually get very tastefuly decorated for Christmas too, and makes for a fantastic day out at any time of the year.
These are only a few of the great places to visit in North Derbyshire. Select the tab ‘Local Area‘ above, to see what else is on offer! Combine your visit to the Knockerdown Inn and make sure you book early if you want to eat in our restaurant too. We look forward to seeing soon and welcoming you to the best Derbyshire has to offer!
